ABOUT ME
My name is Lisa Hardy. I grew up on a farm in a small community in northwest Missouri. My husband and I moved to the Marshfield area over 30 years ago and raised our 3 children here. As one of 6 children myself, I spent lots of time in the kitchen helping my Mom prepare meals. My Mom and Grandmothers were all influential in the development of my cooking abilities. While I don’t have any formal training (other than the Foods/Home Ec classes I took in high school), I have made countless meals and treats for my husband and children as well as for large groups at church. I spent five years cooking for a business where we made food to order and two years as a cook at a local nursing home.
MY FOOD
Homestyle/comfort food is how I would describe the type of things I make. None of the food I had growing up was extravagant or fancy, but whether sweet or savory it was filling and tasty! A lot of the recipes I use are tried and true from my Mom and Grandmothers as well as from other great cooks. I’m a firm believer in following a recipe, but allow for some creativity and adjustment where needed. I am artistically challenged (lol), therefore, I do not decorate cakes and cookies. In fact, none of my foods would win a photo contest, but that’s not where I put my focus. Taste is way more important to me.
PURPOSE
I’m not looking to make this a fulltime job. My short-term goal is to at least get paid for doing what I have been gifted with. Home style/comfort foods are something many people long for, but don’t have the time or ability to make. With all of the ‘new’ recipes and styles of cooking out there, it can be overwhelming. I want to show the simplicity of cooking and that it doesn’t have to be extravagant to be tasty
A goal/dream that I have had for some time is to teach some basic cooking classes. I see so many adults that just don’t have the skills needed to prepare a basic home cooked meal for their family. This is something I’m seeing more frequently across all walks of life. Children and teens would also benefit from learning these skills. I don’t know exactly what this looks like or how it will transpire, but it’s important to me and I hope that I can make it happen
HOW THIS WORKS:
I bake to order most of the time, but will sometimes have various items made up for customers to stop by and grab. If there is something that you would like, but isn't listed on my menu, just ask and I'll do my best to make it for you! Since I am inspected by the Health Department, my goods can be served at school parties and public events. I post available items on my Facebook page. You can see my work there and on Instagram.
